Beginners Guide to Writing XHTML - Part 3

Tables Chairs, Plates and Cutlery. No, sorry, just tables. Everywhere!!! The Table tag is meant to be used strictly for representing tabular data. Akin to Spreadsheets in Excel, Open Office, Database Tables and Many varieties of Office sofftware. Some of you are probably thinking Whoa, that's a lot of code for just a table Ryan but wait. There are methods in my madness. You see, this is, closer to a Complete Basic table structure than purely a Basic Structure and okay, my apologies for thowing you in at the deeper end immediately but it's worth it, there's your favourite thing all wrapped up at the bottom of this tutorial anyway!

Summary

In this lesson we have established the following:
  • The basic structure of a table
  • Extra features including Colspan and Rowspan attributes
  • Reasons why tables should only be used for tabular data. Although 99% of people, including myself do use them occasionally to assist with layouts.

Wow. Talk about end of lesson 3. What's Next?
