@ryancarson if you're using firefox then download the google page speed plug-in. More details here. http://bit.ly/cCkTBc Its quite handy.
@ryancarson it essentially turns on gzip to zip up the web-page before being sent to the browser which would then extract it.
@ryancarson assuming it's being generated by PHP you could just put this into the top php file to help perhaps? ob_start("ob_gzhandler");
@ryancarson compressing the outputted HTML using gzip would help speed up the page loading speed, would reduce about 32kb on page load
